Time passes too quickly!

I know it’s been a few weeks since I posted last…it’s been a crazy ride! In the midst of kids, work, business, and life I got side tracked…but I’m on track and still on this crazy curvy journey! I’m walking and mowing the lawn with the push mower…which if u saw my lawn you would be like “you go girl” lol:) I created a new recipe…zucchini and lamb casserole…it’s amazing!

Just because you get side tracked it doesn’t mean you are not still headed in the right direction…the express lane is nice but you miss a lot of beautiful scenery😊 don’t beat yourself up about it! It’s like weekends…we work all week and rest on the weekend so we are fresh and ready to do it again. So if you have a mess up or a set back don’t give up…go to work and give it all you’ve got…and enjoy your rest! See you down the road on this Crazy Curvy Journey!

What’s Your Story???

Everyone has a story to tell.  I believe it’s important to share it with others.  So, what’s your story? This blog is about my Crazy Curvy Journey to better health.  My life is what’s happening right now. But all stories have a beginning, a place where you came from to get here. So….what’s your story? Please comment and share!

Eating Healthy Is Too Expensive? Hmmm…

I recently read a blog post by Fat Hefflehump I think, and there was no place to comment…the subject matter of the post was that healthy food is too expensive for poor people to buy…that people who buy a meat lovers pizza with calorie count fully posted buy it because it’s cheep and will fill their families bellies…I understand because I used to be one of those people. But she also said those people are educated about what they are eating and have basically no choice…I beg to differ…see I thought the same way…and my family suffererd for it. We were sick all the time! So I educated myself.  I learnt that food with more nutritional value will leave you feeling more satisfied with what you eat because that is what your body is after when it says “feed me”! I can buy healthy groceries for less money than we spent on junk…

I buy local and Walmart food.  If you cook and don’t buy processed food it is just as cost effective.  I watch ad matching from an app on my phone and get fresh avocados for $0.29 , and milk for $3.68.  I buy and eat food as close to how it was created as I can afford to buy it.   Look at my before and after picture…it wasn’t that hard.  We made slow changes, replacing items in our fridge and pantry as they ran out, so no wasting.  We have learnt to choose what food battles to fight instead of giving in to defeat on all of them, and we have overcome one battle at a time.  There are more to fight, but we choose when and how. Like our ketchup…we chose to keep ketchup, but to buy the no high-fructose corn syrup kind.

My kids still like a pizza from time to  and we get it for them.  I make a frozen fruit smoothie instead of ice cream…our kids eat ice cream but we don’t drink pop….they don’t want to because they know what is in it and how they feel if they have one.  If they wanted one we would let them have it…and moderation is something they taught theirselves. We learnt to listen to our body and how food makes us feel.  There are around 100,000,000 nerve cells in our guts…about the same as our spinal cord.  What we eat effects not only our physical health but also our mental health.  Our guts are the chemical engeneirs of our bodies.  These naturally occurring opiates have effects similar to Xanax and Valium.  The gut produces more serotonin than any other part of the body.  So the “gut feeling” is more important for how we are really feeling than we thought!  We have been to the doctor maybe 1-2 times in two years! It used to be all the time one of us was sick…especially me😕.  So we are healthier, the food tastes better, we get positive return for our dollar, and I lost a third of my size without much effort. Just adjusted our eating habits a little at a time…no diet…only life change.  And if people can’t afford to buy it they are not willing to try the experiment. Replace one item at a time for a healthier one. Beans are cheep…soup is cheep…rice is cheep.  You don’t buy it seasoned in a box.  You buy it is basic form.   If you plan ahead it doesn’t take that much time.  Use freezer bags to store excess for quick easy meals.  So I am living proof it can be done.  and the whole family is closer and healthier for it😊❤️

Not all fats are the enemy. It is my daily choice of fats and oils that I leaned my focus towards. So, I tried the experiment, (after reading a lot)and it works! We started out by replacing any foods in our home that contained hydrogenated fats and polyunsaturated fats. We didn’t throw them away, because […]

If The Jeans Fit!

Crazy Curvy Journey

IMG_2001[1]I bought this amazing pair of jeans about a month ago and I couldn’t get them over my hips…huge disappointment, cause they are amazing and I love them. So I was feeling kinda blue about it cause I was going to wear them to go out with my husband. So I did what any girl would do, I cried to my big sister and ate some pudding (my total weakness). She of course was amazing and gave me a pair of jeans that were some of her favorites. So I cheered up and threw the pudding out, and got back on my routine. I did so good that I thought I would weigh after the second week. The #@!$##! thing said I had gained FIVE pounds!!! I nearly died! No way I gained five pounds. So I cried, and was about to give up. If The Jeans Fit!

I skipped the extra popcorn.  I stayed away from the pudding, which is totally not good for losing weight, and made myself a fresh fruit and unsweetened Almond milk smoothie.  I ate Avocado Sunrise for breakfast.  If I had to have a salty snack I had a handful of my favorite student food ( mixed nuts and raisins) from Jeans HealthWay.  If I had to have chocolate I had it in student food with raisins and cranberries.  Today I woke up and my husband said “I read on Facebook today that for Purim the Jews eat chocolate.”  So I was going to eat pudding.  I decided to go make my favorite cook and serve chocolate pudding, because I was sure I hadn’t lost any weight.  Depressed I headed for the stove and my husband said “The scales were wrong, you have lost weight, I just know it!”  He knew I was committing weight loss suicide. So I made a deal with myself, that if the jeans fit, I would not eat the pudding,  instead I would exercise.  So being the good husband Jason is, he agreed to stir the pudding while I went to try them on.  I put my first leg in and to my surprise it went in easily!  Ok, so I put the other leg in and pulled them all the way up and past my hips!!!!  I was so excited…eat that stupid scales!  There is nothing more motivating for me that a really nice pair of jeans one size too small.  I will fit in them!  I have new determination.  I started this Crazy Curvy Journey at a size 28 during springtime two years ago.  I will start this spring respectively in an 18.  By winter I hope to be in a 14.  My goal of getting back in my wedding dress is coming into view.  Soon I will be half the woman I was.  I have lost 12 inches off my waist.  I wish I had measured everywhere else.

This is not about seeing how thin I can get though.  I want to keep up with my family when we go hiking.  I want to go do things with them I couldn’t do before.  I want to be healthy.  I want it for me.  I have went from bed ridden and depressed with no hope to being excited about my life.  I know God helped me.  My husband Jason studied and helped me too.  We did it together.  You can do it too.  Come with us on this Crazy Curvy Journey.  We can do it.
